Kirk Knight is finally ready

We first heard of Kirk Knight the summer of 2012 when he, along with Pro Era “frontman” Joey Bada$$, Chuck Strangers, the late great Capital STEEZCJ Fly and others took the boom-bap rap scene by storm with Bada$$’ debut project, 1999, an Illmatic-esque collection of audio portraits telling tales of struggle and tribulation with light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel optimism. Since then, Pro Era has blown up–just ask the president’s daughter–and are surely still riding high off the against-all-odds first-week sales mark Joey was able to attain with his proper debut album, B4.DA.$$, which sold over 50,000 copies despite its lack of radio play and mainstream recognition.

Kirk Knight, arguably Joey’s most multi-faceted co-conspirator, is digging into the dirt at home plate and is ready to swing for the fences. He’s released his first official release from his forthcoming debut project, and is heading out on the road with Chicago hot-spitter Mick Jenkins. Listen to “Brokeland” below, and get ready for Brooklyn’s next in charge.
